1. Start with the location
Record screen size, orientation, mounting, power, network access and the viewing distance. Confirm permission to install equipment and how it will be maintained.
2. Choose a realistic player
A newer Pi or compatible Android TV device is a better pilot target than assuming every smart TV can install the same app. DisplayCloud’s Android app is currently sideloaded; Google Play distribution is still being prepared.
3. Try the content you actually need
Bring your menu artwork, videos or website to the pilot. Web login, embedding permissions and player performance can change what works. Original Zero W websites are limited to experimental static HTML/CSS.
4. Rehearse a network interruption
Previously downloaded images and videos can continue locally. Live websites and new changes need connectivity. Reconnect and verify recovery before leaving a display unattended.
5. Agree the acceptance checks
Include readability, scheduling, power loss, overnight behaviour, updates and an operating contact. Hardware, installation and software have different costs; make the quote explicit before expanding.
Tell us about your pilot and we can review the intended setup.
